Some Burdock or Arctium lappa to give it its Latin and medicinal name. I found this along the river bank on a recent walk. We use its roots, leaves and seeds medicinally. This plant is great for eliminating metabolic waste products from the body via the liver and kidneys particularly. It cleanses the blood and relieves skin complaints especially when of a heated nature. It is also a bitter and can aid digestive complaints. We may also use it to help to balance hormones. This can be used in combination with other prescribed herbs to assist with all of these and many other complaints.

In the summer it is notable for its large rhubarb like leaves. In the autumn it produces sticky, velcro like seed heads which people used to keep their clothes together as buttons or early velcro in days gone by.
